Camps
As a peer mentor you are able to participate in the Allergy 250K camps. You will meet other peer mentors on the camp and have an opportunity to engage with the Allergy 250K camp staff and health professional volunteers involved in the camps.
About the Camps
The aim of the Allergy 250K camps is to bring together teens living with severe allergy. Attendees participate in fun adventures and team building activities in a safe and supportive environment.
An important part of the camp for school-aged teens living with severe allergy is being able to engage with the Allergy 250K peer mentors. Younger kids are able to learn so much from older teens and young adults living with severe allergies, particularly food allergies. The camps bring you all together through structured fun activities as well as providing plenty of time to just hang out and chat.
Attending camp can be challenging, especially for teens with food allergy. However, our campers tell us that having the peer mentors on the camp really helps them.
To support our peer mentors, we provide training including additional time on camp to engage with Allergy 250K staff and health professional volunteers. We also run camps specifically for our peer mentors.
