WHAT WE GOT UP TO

Friday afternoon and evening

The young adults, volunteers and staff arrived ready for a fun weekend in Adelaide. We were super excited to be running our fourth Allergy 250K young adult camp! We kicked off the camp with adrenaline-charged outdoor laser skirmish to help everyone get to know each other. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of Chilli Con Carne with Loaded Potato Topping followed by Sticky Ginger Pudding and Raspberry Sorbet.

Saturday morning

We started each day with a hearty cooked breakfast of bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns, cereals and fruit. Our campers participated in lots of fun team building activities! We worked our way through the giant split-level labyrinth maze with slides, riddles, fireman’s poles, and plenty of dead ends to conquer. We took on the multi-dimensional rock climbing bouldering challenge. Then we zoomed down the hillside on epic tube slides. It was fast, furious and fun! These great teamwork activities tested our muscles, balance and endurance and we communicated with our team-mates along the way. Dinner was a selection of curries including Chicken curry, Beef massaman and Vegetable curry, served with Jasmine rice, Thai cucumber salad and Dahl.

Saturday afternoon and evening

During the peer mentor training sessions, we learned about how to be an effective peer mentor. This included some great group discussions about our peer mentor program. We trained two new peer mentors at this camp. It is wonderful to see our Allergy 250K peer mentor program continuing to grow. We are excited for our two new peer mentors to practice their peer mentor skills and knowledge at our next Allergy 250K school-aged kids camp.

Sunday morning

We enjoyed some fun, friendly competition with ten pin bowling!

Everyone had so much fun on this camp! A huge thank you to our allergy dietitians for developing a delicious menu and to the chef who is also a dietitian who cooked the main meals. They managed 42 different food allergies and other special dietaries and kept us all well fed over the weekend.
