Allergy 250K Young Adult Camp on the Sunshine Coast

Who can attend this camp?
Young adults, 18 to 25 years, with severe allergy and at risk of anaphylaxis.

Location and dates
The National Allergy Council is holding an Allergy 250K camp on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. The camp dates are Friday 12 July to Sunday 14 July 2024. Camp participants will need to get themselves to the campsite on Friday afternoon and home from the campsite on Sunday afternoon.

Cost
The camp is free to attend as we have received Government funding for this camp. If do not live at the Sunshine Coast, you can still attend the camp. Camp participants will need to arrange and pay for their own travel to and from the campsite.

Accommodation
Accommodation will be dormitory style.

All food allergies catered for
We work with the camp catering staff so that everyone with food allergies will be catered for. At least one allergy dietitian with extensive experience in complex food allergy will be involved in meal preparation and service during the camp. National Allergy Council and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia staff, a clinical immunology/allergy specialist and an allergy nurse will attend the camp.

Allergy 250K Young Adult camp activities
We play games, eat delicious food and get involved in a bunch of fun activities. The camp will include team building activities and allergy information sessions run by health professionals. A full program will be provided to camp attendees upon arrival at the camp. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet other young adults living with severe allergy.

Allergy 250K peer mentor training
Optional Allergy 250K peer mentor training will be offered at this camp. The Allergy 250K peer mentor program connects school-aged teens with peer mentors, largely through our school-aged teen camp program. The peer mentor training is not a compulsory part of the camp – it is only for those who would like to become an Allergy 250K peer mentor.
